Our intensive 10-day Boot Camp on Wildlife Study Design and Data Analysis, from February 28th to March 10th, 2024, at Sunway University, Bandar Sunway, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia was another successful workshop. This international workshop has participants from not only Malaysia, but Vietnam and Laos. 30 people have signed up for this, including Sunway University fresh graduates. We are proud of the potential impact of this initiative on future research and conservation efforts for wildlife. Through our collaborations, we reinforce our commitment to biodiversity protection, demonstrating the powerful synergy between scientific education and conservation. This initiative is also in line with UNDP SDG’s 15 Life on land. Throughout the boot camp, the participants have been deeply engaged with a curriculum focused on practical statistical applications for wildlife research, including analysis of binary and count data, understanding Bayes Rule, and navigating models and model selection through AIC. This comprehensive training also covers specialized areas like estimating occupancy, density, abundance, and survival, all critical aspects to make more informed conservation efforts our planet desperately needs. BCSS works with other NGOs, government agencies, and international organizations to enhance conservation efforts. These partnerships are crucial for sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices in biodiversity conservation. This collaborative effort between Sunway University and the BCSS brings together students and field researchers for the sake of our wildlife. Together, with Sunway University, we continue to forge paths toward a more sustainable and biodiverse planet.
